Estrado has always had ability, but nothing on race day seemed to go right for the 2YO daughter of deceased stallion, Stratum.
Running an impressive 6th at Randwick at her first start behind Dawn Passage, Aussie & Bivioac, she then failed at Warwick Farm the following start due to overracing and eventually running herself into the ground.
Trainer Gary Portelli then decided to freshen her up and aim her at the 2YO Golden Apple, a race which he won last year with bonny little filly, Showgals.
We finally got to see Estrado come good on raceday as she settled out the back of the field, before putting pay to her opposition so quickly, you could have missed it!
'She has improved and matured tremendously', said young jockey Simone Vella. 'I ride her a track work and she is hard to deal with at times, but we get along well and she really turned up today'.
Estrado cost just $25k from the 2018 Inglis Classic Sale for Elite Thoroughbreds.
