Talented 4YO mare Sebring Express, won her first up assignment at Kembla Grange on Tuesday in fine style. Always touted as having ability, Sebring Express has had a few issues in the past, with the most of it coming as a result of a fall as a 2YO when contesting the Group 3 Widden Stakes. Despite her issues, the Sebring mare went into her first up assignment as a two time provincial winner and multiple city placed.
The Sebring mare started 2nd favourite coming off a nice trial at Warwick Farm behind speedster, Gold Finch. Starting from a wide gate, she was forced to settle back. Tye Angland brought her to the very outside, and before Tye even asked Sebring Express for an effort, she made 5 lengths up in a matter of strides to hit the front.
"She got to the front a little early and she was facing a headwind coming up that straight", said Tye. "We were fairly confident coming off her trial against Gold Finch and she will improve off that run".
Sebring Express is now a winner of three races and almost $100k in prizemoney - and there looks to be plenty more to come if that performance was anything to go by! She was purchased by Elite Thoroughbreds at the Inglis Premier sale for $60k and was syndicated in-house amongst current Elite Thoroughbred owners.
Congratulations goes to team Portelli and her owners.
