Fresh from siring not one, but two individual million dollar yearlings at Inglis Easter this week, Newgate Farm’s Capitalist also added a ninth winner to his tally with a debut victory on Friday for Capital Reign.

Trained by Gary Portelli, Capital Reign was dispatched to Canberra for an all aged maiden over 1000m and showed terrific speed to lead for home and despite racing greenly over the concluding stages was too good in winning by two and a half lengths.

Reign was a bargain $30,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Newgate draft for Elite Thoroughbreds with his big group of owners sure to have plenty of fun with the talented gelding going forward. – Tara Madgwick
